Incomprehension

Humans, stupidest of things, set out to mold the world into
Their well-ordered fantasies. My wife (an engineer, of course)
Would hack away the native trees and brush, so as to make
A garden, which will be invaded daily by the vanquished trees
And brush. The diplomat would bring together people who
Detest each other, so as to create a barrier to those he doesn't
Like. His efforts fail. A war ensues, and that poor fool has no
Idea why what he wanted fell to that which had to be. The corporate
Chief, the law enforcer, bureaucrats and architects, and priests
And rocket scientists are thwarted by the universe's failure
To adhere to facts. What's rational, what most makes sense,
Is nothing like reality, which will not be reduced to fit
The puny human mind.

we divert from what would do nature? we are judgemental, moral, religious and limited in time
we can discover things about ourselves
and the space is so big and so far from another inhabited world that a life span wouldn't be enough to travel to destination
we can dream (perhaps the origin of the religions?) and tell our dream to a sorcerer
are you lying when you dream?
