She Must Stay Close to Home

I don't dare send my dear Cloris by herself into
Wegotchaland. If she made it out alive, she'd be
Profoundly changed, and not in anybody's view
For better. She'd be so assertive and obnoxiously
Opinionated, not the shrinking violet we're all
Agreed she ought to be. She'd want to know
The answers to those questions which she shouldn't
Ask, and she might take to drinking port and going
Out in dungarees. In short, she'd cease to be
The proper woman we have come to cherish if she
Ventures by herself into Wegotchaland.

You can't wrap people on cotton wool. Some may say that's an unfortunate fact, but in the end it would be taking away their freewill. By the way, where is Wegotchaland? ;o)
