IN THE LAND OF THE YUPO
Sun's shining on my opened mindThere's a story written in every line
Of my hairless wizened head that shines
Remembering past events some not too kind.
The tattered clothes on my battered form,
Hardened calluses where shoes were never worn.
Wishing for a full belly as a lad,
Dead rats to eat was all we had.
That and the odd leaves off the tree's
There was no food left for us to feed
Hidden from the rest of the world
In a land broken by age of time
A yopu used to run through the folds
It's long pointed snout sniffing the air
Pointed ears rotating to hear a heartbeat
It's talons were as sharp as the claws on a bear
They were used for tearing bark off the tree's
To catch all the bugs within to feed.
Unfortunately that also destroyed the trees,
Without the trees there would be no leafs.
