Ghost

My eyes remain,
Now still,
Still now,
They keep watch. They watch.
They see. They stalk.
You will never be alone as long as you
Remain
Within these walls,
Under this roof,
Behind these doors,
Within the grasp
Of my view.

I was there when you were born.
I watched you grow up.
I watched you move on.
I watched you come back.
I watched you all come back.
You always do,
Just like I did,
And you will die here too,
Just like I did,
And your eyes will become
New pupils and irises,
And we will watch together
As the next generation
And the one after that
And the one after that
And the one after that
And the one after that
And so on
Get born,
Grow up,
Move on, and
Come back.
Just like I did.
Just like you did.
As long as this house exists.

Very powerful and stark poem. Leaves me with questions. Whose house? Hmmm…
