Just another day in my life
Gathering a shopping cart,I trundled out of my front door.
Wondering if my legs and heart,
Were strong enough to do this.
My mind insistent that I could,
I walked alone down the road.
Until I arrived at the hairdressers,
My hair needed to be cut badly.
It was the slowest hair cut I've
ever had, Taking around an hour.
I didn't mind as I felt rested,
Taking a walk across the street.
I gathered my thoughts, As I
waited for the bus. Pulling out
my bus pass as I waited in line,
Getting on the bus showing my pass.
As I was trying to put my bus pass
back into my wallet, The bus starts
moving. Not being to steady on my
feet, I made my way trolley in hand
over to my seat. Putting my wallet away.
The driver pulled into the next bus stop,
Got out off his seat and kicked something,
That he had found out of the door. Before
Picking it up. ( If found on the bus whatever
it was he would have to turn it into the bus
company).
It was only three stops till I got off the bus,
Congratulating myself for not walking the
Short distance. I headed towards the supermarket,
Picked up a trolleys worth of shopping.
Using my credit card to pay for it.
Having to walk back home, Resting
several times in between. I was
adamant to myself that I could do this,
Knowing full well that I shouldn't.
Finally arrived at my front door knocking,
Nobody answered. Still in their bedrooms.
Two days later daughter decided to go shopping,
It surprised me as she hasn't been out of the
house by herself in years. It was only when
I reached into my wallet that I realised my
Notes were missing. That the bus driver
must have seen me drop it, Picking it up
for himself. Not remembering the bus I
was on because of the dementia,
I felt I have only one course of action,
That's to walk to the supermarket in future..
Not being able to trust myself.
Such is the dregs of humanity.
