Pen Pushers

Now old Bill Shakespeare could throw a few words together,
What with his sonnets, dramatic verse and poetry,
Well I never,
Then there was Homer, a poet from Greece,
He managed Iliad and Odyssey,
Oddly,
Chaucer (Geoffrey to his friends)
A renowned historical poet,
Quite good with a script,
And didn’t he know it,
Edgar Allen Poe,
Famed for “The Raven”
One day I’ll read it, I’ll give it a go,
E.E. Cummings,
Punctuation, could do better,
Don’t forget T.S. Eliot,
He won a Nobel Prize,
That must have come as a surprise.
Spike Milligan,
A war poet,
Poor sod lost his mind,
I met him once,
He was very kind.
