a redo, contact creates friction, just how much is up to us...

The piece was finished
and left on the desk,
its shape settled,
its edges clear,
nothing more needed.

But the reply arrived
as though the page
had been waiting
for guidance—
                    a soft lesson,
                    a slowing down,
                    a shift in direction.

Soon the message
was lifted away
from its place,
turned toward
a different use,
made lighter,
easier to carry.

                     Still, the shape holds.
              Some pieces stand
          on their own,
     their purpose steady
without adjustment.

Not every gesture
     asks to be opened.
          Sometimes it marks
                where to pause.

I love how you ended it. I love the shape of the poem. Most of all, I love how it pushes to the almost prosaic but retains its POETRY

I concur with the proposition this poem gives. The pattern creates a double meaning. Cleverly composed and thought out. Blessings, Allen
