being and having: equality and hierarchy

Ultra-rich people, I think, are the kind of people who see the world in a way where, if you're not careful, the gap between who you ARE (being) and what you OWN (having) becomes huge.
I'm somebody important, what I own is paired with who I am
the more I am, the more I have
There's this kind of inflation of having over being.
Those are traits you often find in very rich people.

This is a sharp little observation. The idea that wealth inflates "having" while hollowing out "being" is a solid philosophical nugget, and the phrasing "the more I am, the more I have" captures the delusion perfectly. It reads more like a note toward an essay than a finished poem though. The concepts are clear, but they stay abstract. A concrete image, a yacht, a watch, a face at a gala, would give the idea some teeth. Still, the distinction between being and having is well drawn.
