Camelopardalis & Canus Major

The shallow bays
with their water lilies & their chickweed,
beneath the cobalt-blue dragonflies at the corner of the eye,
their nervously close brown-yellow bottoms with dead tree trunks
and boulders glided over, cautiously sensed,
are mysteriously superior to me
as I drift daydreaming
in the kayak –

but I am the thoughts about them
that they need,
to take hold in the etched plate
of wandering peoples
and intractable species
at the breathing stops
in the vicinity of the star AC+79 3888
in the constellation Camelopardalis
and by the great star Sirius in Canis Major,
where geometry is granted a surprising freedom,
in which Karlheinz Stockhausen sits
with his beautiful handwriting
and ticks them off:

Spur eins
Spur zwei
Spur drei
Spur vier
Spur fünf
Spur sechs
Spur sieben
Spur acht
Spur neun
Spur zehn
Spur elf
Spur zwölf
Spur dreizehn
Spur vierzehn
Spur fünfzehn
Spur sechzehn
Spur siebzehn
Spur achtzehn
Spur neunzehn
Spur zwanzig
Spur einundzwanzig
Spur zweiundzwanzig
Spur dreiundzwanzig
Spur vierundzwanzig
