This is calm and uncluttered in a way that fits its subject perfectly. The speaker's refusal of ritual in favor of simply sitting and watching gives the poem a quiet honesty. "Simply absorb the life as it moves around me" is a lovely line. The brevity works, though the poem is so spare it barely has time to create a scene. One small detail about the water or the people at the ghats would make the stillness feel more alive and less like a general mood. Still, the restraint is mostly a strength here.
