Across a small space and back

Across a small space and back,
notta long way.
my cardboard spaceship to take me,
spaghettie bowl helmet to protect thee.
my dog spot,
sits at co-captian.
across a small space and back
the sights i will see
the big dipper
venus and mars
never this close
all this
and much much more
across a small space and back
my heat shield is pulled off
like the bed sheet it is
when i look up
to see the bright lights of stars
i see my mother
plain and tall
time for dinner
i can continue my trip tomarrow
across a small space and back
