"Sabuj" means green in Bengali. In life, he was "green", and after death he has become "grey". Oh, I mourn for you, and miss you very much, my friend.

G for Green, Grey Too

(for Sobuj who died of tissue-cancer)

Here it was again, blazing overhead:
the tyrant sun melting my candle -
my source of light during power-failure.

Plastered with sighs of a dying friend,
I saw the sun heating up his dead cells,
its rays turning into trails of smoke.

chasingtheday The PoetBay support member heart!
death - it is a lover of life, the one constant in living i think. all things can change, but death will always be itself.

a good piece, holding wisdom, the sun heats up our cells alive too, all those that sunbathe for example, killing themselves slowly. aye to power failure, what better light to see by than the sun.

A touching poem. I like the way you use images of light, heat and sun to convey the thought of life melting away.
