In Your Eyes

In Your Eyes

I stand in the bathroom
I just finished shaving a three-day beard
My hair still wet and smelling of shampoo
I look in the mirror
There is an old man there
My remaining beard is full of grey
Sparkles of white shine like diamonds in my brown hair
Wrinkles around my eyes give me a tired
Laugh lines faded from years of wear and disuse
My teeth worn and discolored
The sparkle I once had in my eyes was lost decades ago
At one time I was young, strong and good looking
But now my eyes show me nothing but an old man
There is nothing left of the man I used to be
Somehow when you look at me you do not see what I have become
The lines, the grey hair and the age disappear
In your eyes time has not passed
The hard times, pain and losses never took place
You see the person I was so many years ago
In you eyes, your beautiful eyes, you see love.
You see the man I wish I was

Excellent , I really enjoyed this, those that are closest to us never seem to see the progression of time, maybe thats a good thing for both concerned.
