Based on Rumi's Elephant in The Dark, for 9th grade English
Five of us are looking for paradise together
Each with an idea of our own
The first seeks the city with its excitement and crowds
The second wishes for the open sea
The third envisions a solitary farm, complete with creek, forest and fields.
The fourth longs for love
He searches for someone to be always at his side.
The fifth cares not for paradise, he chases adventure.
Each one wonders why the others do not recognize paradise when they see it.
If we searched separately, maybe we could find it.
