Something To Be Learned ---revised ---Thank you Night Soul Woman

Were those eyes yours
They looked across the trees of a virgin forest
Water clear as a brisk winter sky
Sand brushed by wind blowing off the ancient sea
People, you see people
Children of nature
Worship the spirits all around them
Never harming nature
Leaving only footprints wherever they travel
Alone for a thousand year they look at you
Watching, seeing what you may do
You watch back
Curious
Afraid
You do not understand
How can people live like this
You desire what they have
You see the smiles in their faces
The joy of their children
The way they live
How their spirits protect them
You wish as you watch
You want to be like them
But what they have, you will never share
You do not understand
To you a rock is a rock
A tree is a tree
These people see different
Everything is vital
Everything is alive
Everything has a soul
That is something you have not learned yet
You desire what they have
You want to be like them
When will you stop listening to your mind
When will you listen with your heart
You have a lifetime to learn
The desire is not there
Let your mind and heart become one
Accept them
Learn from them
Take the time you need
Then smile, accept them as brothers
And you will become one with their spirits

A beautifully edited poem Robert, should that be years on line 10? As I said before a lesson for us all to learn, being at one. Smiling at you, Tai
