Lacking Control Of A Late Night Creative Mind

Sitting here for hours
Ideas flow through my mind
Some rush
Like water cascading toward the brink
Loud and roaring
Screaming to be heard
But moving too fast to be truly heard
Some crawl
Barely moving
Trying not to be noticed
Hiding behind the faster, louder ones
One thought stays in my mind
Fighting against the currents
Wanting to be written
Controlling my dreams
Demanding to be heard
Eyes fighting to sleep
Tired from a day of everything and nothing
A mind fighting to be creative
It wants me to write
My soul surrenders
I write what my heart tells me
My eyes cannot see the words
Thoughts flood my mind with new ideas
I finish as the sun rises
Another night with no sleep
Another morning with a new poem
Written by a poet
Words that mean everything and nothing
Except in a late night creative mind

Yes. . . Those sleepless nights that give birth to a poem ready to be shared with the rest of the world in the early morning hours. . .The reality of a poet and poetess perhaps?
