FOR MY LATE MUM

Together At Last

come on in and sit a while and shelter from the storm
the fires glowing the kettles on you'l soon be nice and warm
i'll tel you tales of by gone days the things we used to do
the kettles boiling oh at last i'll just pour some tea for you

ill set the table how i used to do i'll get out my sunday best
you just sit by the fire dear and have a little rest
the tables set in fine array with home made scones and jam
i have on my dress look it still fits how proud of that i am

please come now and sit beside me and have your cup of tea
it really is so good you know for a little company
my jimmy died back in the war but god i miss him so
we were only married for three short weeks and then he had to go

you remind me so of my jimmy you know he smiled just like you
how can this be why are you here have you come for me
alice my dear its time to go and leave this world behind
now we can start our lives anew safe in each others arms
