Under My Tree

UNDER MY TREE

I sit here in this dim light
Searching for a sign
Squinting at the shadows
That I know cannot be mine

I believe the sun is rising
Some light is shining through (Verse 1)
Figures are illuminated
That one looks like you

The world around me blurs
Shades of green and blue and gray
But my back is firm against the bark
Of this tree by which I must stay

Under my tree
In the woods of insanity
I'm not alone
But I'm completely on my own
(Refrain)
I watch the world walk by
They're all trying to deny
That they belong under a tree
Here in the woods of insanity

It's hot as hell out here
The sun glares down at us
Noon drags on for hours
Holding back the dusk

The insects swarm and bite us
Spreading our disease
To people who once thought (Verse 2)
They could escape insanity.

This forest has no boundaries
There's a tree for every man
So if you aren't checked in already
Enjoy your time while you still can.
