every children's song can be made awfully depressing... the ones that aren't already, that is.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (minor)

Twinkle twinkle little star,

Burn and smoke and flame and char.

Someday farther down the road,

You'll grow huge and then explode!

Twinkle twinkle little star,

Burn and smoke and flame and char.

Clever twist. We know a lot more about what stars are now than we did when this song originated, that's for sure! It helps return the song to a major key, however, to note that for OUR star, the end is a few BILLION years away--about a thousand times longer than humanity's entire evolutionary existence so far (that is, since separating with the line leading to today's chimpanzees). That's pretty far "down the road"!
