....one of these stressful days,
I just had to go out to collect
some thoughts on the way...

Uneventful afternoon

Like a drowning swimmer gulping for air

I just had to go out, take a long afternoon walk.

It would be peaceful, restful, utterly undemanding.

I could smell the sea, then feel firm wet sand

and seagulls were my only companions.

Found driftwood along the pebbled beach,

will take some of it home to dry.

Lateron it will make a lovely cracking sound

in a burning fireplace.

My mood has wholly matched the beauty

of the late afternoon,

my irritation has fallen away.

Before long, the light began to fade,

the mist rose like shadows dancing around me,

a cool silvery whiteness everywhere.

Then, clouds moved gently from the face of the

early full moon and he showed me the way home.
