As we speek, my town, West Kelowna, has a massive forest fire and is currently 200 hectors wide, 10 000 people effected, and more than 4000 houses evacuated. I am currently evacuated from my home.

The Fire

Smoldered in black smoke.
The orange glow illuminating houses; eating them alive.
Worried faces fill my burning town.
My breath just can't slow down.

The possesions, the memories for some.
The important things they have known all their lives,
Completely demolished into dark ashes
Everything completely destroyed.

The sky is filled with dark yellow grey smoke
It spread quickly with our conditions in weather
Everyone sleeping somewhere other than their own homes.
No comfort in their world.

No comfort in my head.
Worried for my home
Worried for my friends
Worried for my town

Destroyed merely in seconds
And only broken structures of houses stand,
To remind us of our dreadful summer
And our discomfort in the hot, unfriendly night.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant write, poignant in the extreme--I have so much emotion for you! It is difficult to seperate the poem form the actually terrible incident which you portray so well. (How are you now, and how is your family and town?) superb write.
