can't be that anymore

not that girl

not me

i refuse to be
the hopeless girl,

straining to regain
something
that i gave away
too early, against
the strings of a piano

i weep in twisted tones
because i will not be that,
never again
i was never that girl.

Zoya Zaidi
"AGAIST THE STRINGS OF PIANO,
I WEEP IN TWISTED TONES"

The drudge that stubles forth is
But a loud moan, not the sweet sonnet
Of yore, that played on my heart strings,
Music my piano plays no more, heart, my love,
Sings no more!

Beautiful piece, muddy waters, how did I miss you uptil now?

Love, Zoya
