The Port of Happiness

I'm setting sail this morning, just waiting for the tide.
Not sure where I'm headed but my eyes are open wide.
Searching for the answers, a way out of this mess.
I'm sailing off to find the Port of Happiness.

Made it through some rough seas, ran aground a time or two.
I could tell some stories that would scare the life from you.
Hurricanes and typhoons add to life's great stress.
I'm desperately searching for the Port of Happiness.

The Port of Happiness has eluded me so long.
Each time I thought I found her, turns out I was wrong.
A quiet port of refuge, the answer to my dreams.
Is just another fantasy, at least that's how it seems.

My life has had it's ups and downs, some highs and some lows.
I just seem to keep keeping on, going with the flow.
Sometimes I just need a hug, a kiss and a caress,
To remind me that somewhere there's the Port of Happiness.

The Port of Happiness has eluded me so long.
Each time I thought I found her, turns out I was wrong.
A quiet port of refuge, the answer to my dreams.
Is just another fantasy, at least that's how it seems.

One day I know I'll find her, the subject of my dreams.
I know her when I see her, by the way her eyes will beam.
I'll drop straight down to my knees and my love I will confess.
We'll live forever smiling in the Port of Happiness.

The Port of Happiness has eluded me so long.
Each time I thought I found her, turns out I was wrong.
One day I'm going to find her, this I promise you.
The one that makes my heart smile and all my dreams come true.

Hello,Bob.This is wonderful. I almost missed it because I am not on this site reading poetry as often as I had been. Frankly, I am surprised to see no comments. But that doesn't mean the poem isn't appealing. I guess people just get too busy sometimes. Anyway, I am pursuing song making and think this would make a wonderful song put to tune. May I give it a try with your permission? Or is this already a song? I can see this sung with guitar accompaniment. So far I have one collaboration posted online with Lyrics by El McCandless and I have about 3 more in the workings.
