Three thousand miles between us sure is a long, long way.I can't wait any longer, I'm heading your way today.
Just had my truck serviced. My duffle bag is packed.
Rolling out to the highway and I ain't lookin' back.
I quit my job. I'd taken all that I could stand.
Cleaned out my bank, so I have a few grand.
Took care of my business, nothing left to do.
Head out on the highway, rolling on to you.
Three thousand miles of highway, counting every mile.
Mileposts flying by me, getting closer to your smile.
Three thousand miles ahead, passing one by one.
Driving closer to you toward the setting sun.
CD player's humming, I'm singing every song.
Jimmy Buffett's with me, he loves to ride along.
Kenny, Dean and Willie and the "Chairman of the Board"
All on this road trip to keep me form getting bored.
Lunchtime in Ohio, I stop to grab a bite.
With any luck at all I'll be in Chicago late tonight.
I'll stop there and rest my eyes, be on the road by dawn.
Three thousand miles is a long, long drive. I must keep moving on.

Driving through Montana, what a gorgeous place.
But it can't hold a candle to your gorgeous face.
Border guards just asked me if I've something to declare.
I just smiled and told them I declare I'm almost there!
I woke up in a motel, a Gideon's by my bed.
Thinking I was all alone, but you were there instead.
I said you gotta pinch me, this must be a dream.
A dream come true, I'm here with you and happy to extreme.

Three thousand miles behind me, this traveling is done.
We'll walk the beach together and watch the setting sun.
