mmm

Cream

Somehow I need to write about cream
Not of the crops or colour
Just the texture of something that slips
Down easy cow tooled.

With me here there is weak cream...
Thin as water
Even the balloon whisk cannot
Thicken it to cover cake without drowning.
Ineffectual cream that is textureless.

My arteries want the mastery
Only once in a while of the cream
That clots and clogs my tongue...
Butter coloured and naughty
A delicious silk sin.

A poem about cream - that's delicious :) You bring out the smoothness and my thoughts wander not to cakes but to creamy chanterelle sauce ... mmm

You've probably heard the tales of rationing in England during the war. My mother moved to Canada immediately after the war and gained 40lbs eating corn flakes with the thickest possible whipping cream, something she hadn't had for 6 very long years.
Yummers. :-)
