that all engulfing feeling of total isolation which sometimes betrays our linkedness into all of life..

Being alone

Wordlessly
openmouthed
I lamented
my very existence

 only the existing
can lament

 a  maple leaf
clasped a hand
over  my  complaint
I wailed not

 but noted
being heard

  Barefooted
earthtouching
I heard only
the lone gull

 that made two of us
the singer and the listener

 a grain
chafed
between my toes

 I have toes
even when walking alone

 the shore
does not
leave me alone

 I roll with the tide
out into solitude

and back again

Being alone is like having a deaf ear to self and life. People need people to feel alive. Great write!

Elle The PoetBay support member heart!
Sometimes I relish my aloneness - often I hate it but I can sit with myself - a lot of people can't and yes I can castigate (too much lol) - I used to hate my aloneness I don't now so much because I have found it has given me strength - You always give your reader the question and I think you understand so much too

Aren't we odd, us humans? I wonder how many different moods are complicit with being alone. When does isolation become insulation?
I enjoyed this a great deal Teddy.
Thank you, Nick
