Be Calm

You are back then from the war
Unlike you were before
With a mote in your eye
I want to smite away.

Your shadow on the wall
Is as solid as a tor
Yet your body seems so
Hazy and unfluid.

Your every day face
Betrays you now.
We never learn the lessons do we?

Youth is a gentle thing
Not meant for harm...

Yet we send you to fight
In our name and your plight
On return is to learn
To disarm.

Let us smite away your moat
Let us enter your portcullis
Let us wander you back
To becalmed.

This is one of your best (in my opinion).
It grabbed me and tossed me back in time...
Sadly, what should be yesterday's memories always seems to
seep into todays reality despite so many warnings!
Thank you Linda

A solid poem about a subject that is . . . hazy and fluid. I was moved Jenks, really touched.
