One Hundred and Fourty Four Days

The sky has finally cleared up
after the rain comes the moon
my dear, you're far far away
and it makes my tears fall like shooting stars
I want to stop but it's out of my control
'cause it's obvious
that I can't escape from missing you

it's been one hundred and fourty four days
since I last let your smile go
I'll pretend that our past is unimportant
so that I can seal this pain inside me
and make my falling tears stop
'cause my heart feels broken
every time my mind thinks of you
it can be sealed but won't beat like before

I realize that love comes
when you least expect it
but why do I already miss you after just saying goodbye?
why does it hurt now to love you?

I can't sleep
gazing at the moon alone
wishing for another hug from you
just for a minute or even a second
and the pain I carry is bursting like a flame

I realize that love comes
when you least expect it
but why do I already miss you after just saying goodbye?
why does it hurt now to love you?

your smile, your eyes
is memorized in my mind
your love, your happiness
is forever my hearts happiness
but it's been one hundred and fourty four days
since I last let your smile go
and I'll pretend that our past is unimportant
even if I know that I will never see you again

Rik The PoetBay support member heart!
Being without the person you care for weighs heavy on the heart and soul even when you know you will see them again. When they have moved beyond reach then the weight can become unbearable for sure. A very heartfelt write. Enjoyed the read.
