this night of blindness he longs to seethe light that shines out 'cross the sea
but lo the star hast dimmed tonight
and left this sphere itself unbright
...and so she with heartstrings, as he with words,
gives flight to heaven's pearl-white birds.
and though her light sleeps, still something shines:
thus flickers hope between these lines
