A song...

Cast My Ashes out to Sea

when I die won’t you burn me
cast my ashes out to sea
when I die don’t you yearn for me
be a smile and a memory

when I cry don’t discard me
the truth’s revealed in these tears of mine
when I cry you will know me
I’ll be the taste of your sweet wine

if this life was for a reason
if my life was lived for you

then you’d see that I am dying
you’d hear the words I need to say
and I’d know why you are crying
these words I’d speak on my dying day

when I die won’t you burn me
cast my ashes out to sea
when I die don’t you yearn for me
be a smile and a memory

A gentle, profound cycle of words. Misleadingly simple, deeply professed. A gem.

John Ashleigh
Flowing like a gentle ripple upon the river, yet with emotion as heavy and as confusing as the white water rapids. Immense and beautiful, Eli.

Your friend,
John.
