Kafka on the beach

I look over my shoulder
for the time that's been
moments and people
that will never come again

then you come oh Melancholy
reminding that the past
is a butterfly of history
which is impossible to catch

because truth is

you can remember
you can miss

but you can only once exist.

________________________

then Kafka on the beach
taught me something else
the things you have experienced
will stay longer than a scent

because the soul is like a library
with room for them we love
so if they disappear

they can still be near.

An indubitable truth, well stated, and enjoyed.
Thanks,
