A WW1 British soldiers - A Tomy's lament.

I WONA BE 'OME!

Oh why did I volunteer for the army?

I don't like the sodden army!

The army don't sodden well like me!

Sargent major , shouts at me!

Swears at me , he's uses such bad words!

Makes me blush , so he do's mother mine!

Me mum and dad , wed before I wos born!

So I'm proper legit , right side of the blanket!

( just! )

The Sargent he puts me on spud bashing all the time

Digging the latrines , when he aint got me peeling them spuds

I wona be 'ome! Down the pub , The Red Lion , knocking back points of wallop!

Half a mo , NOW THAT'S HOW I GOT 'EAR!

Now I stand 'ear in this hell 'ole of a trench somewhear France"!

How I wona be 'ome!

It's very tough being away in a strange place out of your comfort zone. I admire your courage.
