~honestly, I don't know ...

Today, as a whim, I read your poem.

I closed my eyes,
and without a sound
a great tree of the forest
deep in the jungles of Ecuador
holding only a handful of leaves
slid into the river bed.

An ancient Mayan ruin, just beyond Campeche,
6 kilometers west of the town of Xphil,
crumbled just a few more rocks,

An old woman scattering corn
to her chickens looked up
for an instant,

At the other side
of the galaxy, a star thirty-five times
the size of our own sun exploded
and vanished, leaving a small green spot
on the astronomer's retina

As he stood on the great open dome
of my heart with no one to tell.

Well, whether you know or not, this leaves quite an impact and effect on the reader :) Loved the descriptions, take me to places I've not gone to before, in a way.

Oh, this is just superb!
It takes the reader to so many different, existing places,
