THEY SEND THE YOUNG OFF TO WAR

They send the young men off to war
Now they send the young woman to
Today

Tell them they fight for the good
Good values , the greater good
They the young , know no better
Though , you'd think they would by now

In years past wars , they laid where they died
Column after column the silent dead lay

Now they bring the dead home to lay
Wounded , the shattered , the , shafted
Return , a live , some see
Look closer and you will , something behind the eyes
Looks like something has died with in the mind

They that went off to fight in Their Wars
Never know why

Those who sent them , safe in their , beds
Maybe they are visited at night , by the faces
Of the young they sent off to kill and die
The voices as one asking: '' WHY? ''

Absolutely! The young are sent off to fight and die, and I often get the feeling that they were not aware of the bigger picture 'cause no one actually laid out the true intentions behind the reason for the conflict in the first place! I find this so very sad beyond words. *hugs* xx

The recruiters lie to them, talk of country and glory and those $10,000 for joining seems like a dream to many. It's not usually the sons and daughters of the rich who join, but those who are in search of a way, of a living, of a job, or maybe just the recognition. There haven't been many wars lately where they fight for their country's freedom, but rather for some old man's ideology or for oil or money. It's very sad that they tell them they are fighting for their country. It's the lie of the old men with power.

Nabeela Altaf
Maybe what they did was wrong, sending off such young men and women to go and get themselves killed. But they died for their country and I think that's a pretty good way to go. To die with honour and to greet death like an old friend.
