in lonely solitude

it seems like the road goes on forever
(and the night)

we all sit together in the darkness
as midnight encapsulates us in the van
(the only home we know in this moment),
headlights illuminating the path ahead of us
(the only light outside of our minds)

we all sit together
in lonely solitude, waiting

the radio goes in and out
(ancient static),
the hiss of the other cars
wheezing by us along the freeway

we all sit together
in lonely solitude,
each moment
wheezing by us
like the other cars on the freeway -
sometimes, i wonder where they're going
sometimes, i wonder where i'm going
(and the other passengers that i share my prison with)

we are all together
in lonely solitude

Sounds so lonely even while among many. Such is life sometimes. Nice piece.

This describes so well how even in company we can experience real solitude and you give it more life with the headlights and passing vehicles.
You make me feel the enclosure of the van and solitude.
