Joseph Josephides, born in 1948 in Cyprus, began writing poems when he was 15. In the period 1965-67 his poems were broadcast, "on the air", by the CBC (Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation) and soon after were included in the "Anthology of Young Poets of Cyprus". Studying hard for his academic qualifications (B.Sc. in Mathematics, B.A. in Economics, Ph.D. in Statistics-Economics) and then serving as Bank Manager for 23 years, Josephides had a low profile in poetry for many years. Still he published poems in Anthologies & literature magazines, he established the first Bank Cultural Centre in Cyprus, and promoted poetry acting as a Member of the Board of The Union of Cyprus Writers.

The year he left the Bank (2001) - to become an MBA Professor, Researcher and Consultant of the Cyprus Government - he published his first collection of Poems ("WAY A", ΔΙΑΔΡΟΜΗ A', Athens). Two years later he published his second one ("WAY Β", Athens) and in 2006 his third one ("WAY C", Nicosia). Some of his poems have been translated in many languages, are posted in a lot of Websites for Poetry, included in Anthologies of the EU, presented in EU Conferences for Poetry. Few of his poems are composed and performed by choirs and the Opera of Cyprus, of which he is the base-soloist.

He participated in various european economic and statistical conferences. He is the Vice President of European Movement and of UN-Association of Cyprus. He wrote more than 120 articles (20 of them on literature and poetry), three books in economics, one in mathematics and a theatre play. As a poet he represented Cyprus poetry in 2 european congresses: in November 2003 at Cognac (France) and in May 2006 at Munich (Germany).

Finally, he translated (in greek from english or vice versa ) poems of Neruda, Cavafis, Elliot, Montale, Szymborska, Heany. In 2007 he will publish in greek his translation of 77 poems of Nobelist P.Neruda his translations (in greek and english) of 80 poems of brilliant medieval poets of China, and his translations (in greek) of 19 turkish Cypriot poets, a translation funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus.

He is co-editor of the Poetry and Literature Magazine "THEMATA" of Cyprus.
