DEATH OR FREEDOM?

Written 2026-02-09

Yesterday still knew your name.
It held you in ordinary light,
untouched by endings,
faithful to routine.
Nothing warned the air.
Nothing asked me to prepare
for a world that would tilt overnight.
Morning arrived differently
not loud,
just… missing something it refused to explain.
And in that space
where language fails first,
a question formed without permission:
Death… or freedom?
Because love this rooted
does not understand disappearance.
It searches for another meaning,
another doorway,
another word that hurts less to carry.
So I listened inward
to the quiet place you helped build in me,
and there
written more gently than grief
was the same answer
twice.
Freedom.
Not an ending.
Not a vanishing.
Just a crossing
my hands cannot follow
yet my heart somehow recognises.
And if yesterday still lingers
in the fold of my breathing,
then nothing true has been taken
only changed
into something softer than sight.
So I will walk forward slowly,
holding what cannot be lost,
learning that love
does not choose between
death
and freedom.
It becomes
both light
and memory
at once.
