Altar'd

If I were the goddess

You pretend me to be

Then there would be

Daily offerings

Upon my altar.

There are no offerings,

There is no altar,

And I’m no goddess.

To quote Neil Diamond,

You don’t bring me flowers

Anymore.

Sad. Although flowers are overrated. And you have to kill them in offering. I love the title. @)--'.--- There's a rose. Careful of the thorns :)

This says so much. Such sadness. Your poetry projects your heart. I've been in those shoes. I love how you wrote those deepest painful feeling all wrapped up so matter-of-factly. Sometime, somewhere, you know of this.

I really like this poem a lot.
I feel like it says that I am not the person you think I am.
Wonderful job

This is great, Nancy, the admission that you're no goddess, followed by the observation that he's not much of a worshiper.

Excellent wordplay which enhances the unvarnished message.

Great song and a great poem. Words of promise are nice but action must follow the words or they start to feel flat and meaningless. Always enjoy your writing.
