A free verse poem of vengeance seeking justice.


Revenge

As we are hurt by a wrongful act,
Hatred runs through our veins,
Fueling our desire to seek revenge.

Hatred is an uncontrollable emotion,
A mood that distorts our thinking.  

Untamed hate leads to vengeance,
Convinced that retaliation is justified.

As we seek justice for agony,
Will retribution heal our pain,
Or are we still left with a scar?

You have answered your own question in the last stanza. Or at least implied that revenge will not bring us peace, but rather add another scar to our injuries. Good poem.
