Silent Sam

He sits, inscrutable in his silence,

Immune to intrusion,

Apparently unreachable;

But if you touch his heart

A smile briefly breaks

Like sunrise at dawn…

Then is gone.

Lost in his inner world, briefly touched, and back again into his silence. This is very touching, indeed, and nice that you could touch his heart.

It's great to have you back, Nancy, and to see that you have brought a gem like this.

This is a wonderful piece. It portrays the mood of many men from a certain generation so well.

Wow. way to build a mood and the last line is like an axe chopping

This gem of a piece is a sunrise in itself.

Beautifully written. I had missed your poems. This is touching and so full of truth. There is a Silent Sam in all our lives.

I keep reading this. I just want to capture it. So much out of so little. Beauty!

These words touched me... wish I could explain it more properly, but thanks for posting them :)

Beautifully captures a moment. The language seems admirably suited to your theme.
