Half poem, half song.

Far From Home

Hey, how you've been
won't you please let me in?
I'm a long way from home
got no friends,
got no one.

Lost and alone
spent my time
chasing ghosts.
Say it's okay
open up, lead me home.

Let me bury my head
between
the palms of your hands
and cry like a child,
say that you understand.

Lost and alone
spent my time
chasing ghosts.
Say it's okay,
lift this sorrow off my chest.

Let me sleep
a dreamless sleep,
wipe the cobwebs from my soul.
just a moment's respite
from the demons taking hold.

Hey, how you've been
won't you please let me in?
I'm lost and alone,
I'm soaked and so cold,
Please take my hand, let me in, lead me home.

This is very nice. It must have been a good song. The rhymes are great and the ending hits home.

As I read, I hear a gentle guitar, and a voice that is slightly plaintive, but strong and hopeful nonetheless. Beautiful poemsong.
