Sailing down from Coopers Town to Great Guana Cay on. Quiet afternoon.

At ease with self

The day proceeds at will
Water in every possible hue from green to blue
Its spectrum exquisite in its nuance
The jib is out but nothing else
Odissea is a heavy boat unresponsive
To the 6 to 8 off the starboard quarter
The Perkins takes the weight
1200 rpm Her throbs and constant rumble
distant but intimate
The jib provides the lift from 4. 0 To 4.9
As the winds gust and slow
The low long period swell is 1 ft plus
Providing an hypnotic roll as
This endless day moves on in
Trance and thrall to perpetual

Great stuff. I too proclaim ignorance of nautical nuances. The last three lines were cracking :)

Knowing nothing about sailing, this poem still took me on a voyage that was much enjoyed.

I don't know what all the details of sailing mean, but it all sounds wonderful. The flow, the thoughts, the life of the poem bring me to a beautiful peace.

There is nothing more peaceful in this world. I remember when the sails took over and it moved with the wind it felt as if I were high on some heavenly substance. it was other-wordly. My best to you. Safe sailing, and may the waters remain calm. Ahoy.
