Because I love her

What does it matter if she evades me,
makes herself unreachable
and stays away for months
for enigmatic reasons out of reach;
what does it matter if she gets mixed up
in doubtful company, with other friends,
perhaps with other lovers;
and what does it matter how much of her life
she hides from me, in cultivating secrets,
in a mystery of permanent concealment;
and what does it matter in what weird activities
she gets involved, as long as she remains herself?
For me, she may do anything whatever,
I will not be curious or investigate,
I will not mind whatever she is up to,
I will trust her anyway,
because I love her.
