The reality escape
What is life's meaning?
You have a right to ask indeed
especially at this time of the year
when it is time to leave a year behind
of disappointments, failures and adversities
that only emanated in a kind of hollow meaninglessness
of an empty melancholy of no end and without bottom.
Solomon proclaimed the only valid meaning of life being
to have fun, enjoy, make parties and forget all problems,
and he was the wisest man in all the world.
Is the reality escape life's meaning then,
the culmination of which would be death
as something of the ultimate reality escape?
It's not all wrong, since nothing is more beneficial
than imagination, which is just man's creativity.
So please regard all those poor escapists from hard reality
by alcohol and drugs, by book worming and art obsession,
partying zest and cineast enthusiasm
with other penchants for all kinds of self-indulgence
to just get away from humdrum boring every day economy and realism
with some benevolence and tolerance,
since all they want, these refugees from hard reality
is just to innocently please themselves by living.
