a lonely man once said

a lonely man once said
it is not I burning
in the sky of tomorrow
it is the I in you

rambling men congregate
by the pool side of more money
destitute men run
when there is gunfire

timed I'd say and fooled
by the three-faced demon
running the lottery
from a Bowery apartment

circled by the green fire
of Central Park
I in the midst of murder
remember John Lennon

thrashed and brushed aside
I revel in the music
severity once stole from I
lost in a paper conversation

I especially like the Bowery stanza and the John Lennon stanza, and am amazed by the freshness, the newness, and the aptness of "circled by the green fire/ of Central Park." Grateful to have read this poem!
