not poetry, more like a daydream

again and yet to be

some days beg to be relived   though

begging gets you no

where when it comes to reliving days   i

would relive the day   the night

actually   that sandy

and i danced   and danced and danced   then

walked to her room   and did not make

love   she made peanut

butter and honey sandwiches   we

talked about our futures   now

she owns a health food

store and i design artful bits of nothing   i

often find myself thinking about such evenings   and

ache at their distant nature

~

i would relive the day julie and i

lay in the shade and

kissed   but there are days never lived that call

just as compellingly   the day that

c and i never walked on

the beach   how many days didn't we do that   the

evenings never spent chatting over

drinks   while the expats

danced and pawed one another   how many

mornings did the tide roll in or out   unseen

by me   while she walked

alone   those days never happened   but they are as real

to me as the day julie and i lay in the shade   and

the night sandy and i danced   and danced and danced

Memories or dreams are nice to relive. This poem is soft and wistful and happy all at the same time. I didn't find it sad.

I like this, hidden meanings leave me wondering. I like to wonder.
