taste

The grass on the lawn has grown,
the warm yet wet winter meant
it never stopped growing
even the roses are in bud,
the forsthia shyly shows
her yellow flower.

I played the piano for over an hour
yesterday, I annotate
and freefall scores while
a ginger ninja plays
with a christmas toy
ringing bells

A walk on the beach
holding the hand of a
not quite thigh high
errant boomerang
as he runs towards
hazards only to be plucked
into the safe arms
of an available so called
grown up

I dance today
a new knee support
and I have discovered
spring again
as I hop over stones
slip and slide
across the lawn
heavy with dew

This is a taste
just a frisson
slightly aromatice
and then
it float on a breeze
up up and away

You write so well of appreciating these ordinary, but very special, moments.

You write beautifully of the rampant joy of having fun with a grandchild! May he or she always provide you with the romping joyous freedom you so eloquently describe here.
