Somewhere...

Somewhere in the distance
I heard the voice calling my name
The voice of the dead
The voice of the living
The voice of the monster
The voice of the beast

Somewhere in the distance
Someone shouts my name
Somewhere in the corner, someone chants like a monkey at me
Somewhere in the pitch, someone spits on me
Somewhere around the fields, someone
Pelts banana on me...

Somewhere...somewhere I could hear the birds sing
I could hear the doves coo
I could hear the monsters moan
I could hear the horses neigh
For the world shall soon be a better place

Racism is such a major issue affecting only some segments of society. To just refer to the footballers, constantly mocked, its ridiculous, the condescending remarks are this certain group's only way to feel superior, in a world defined by development. Good write, Onyeka. Don't we all wish there was a place out there where this didn't happen, somewhere...
