THE BAND DID NOT PLAY ON

Oh how they applauded - clapping - and cheered
Sang their hearts out
As the boys & girls marched
Away too war
But as & when they
As the boys & girls came back
Not marching back as they had
The ranks thinned out
No one sang - no one applauded
No one sang & cheered
The Band plaid out of tune
Harts no longer into playing martial music - patriotic songs
All sounds, rather revolting now!
IT were all - Bolox - BS!

There were no glory - to celebrate - just the dead to remember
The maimed in body & mind to remind them of those who went off to war!

Brilliantly said, Ken. The incidents of PTSD among returning soldiers is growing alarmingly. We celebrated their heroics but are blind to their wounds.
