A dull damp winter day begets a challenge in rhymes and a change in mood

Overcoming

It's cold today

damp whimpering cold

tendrils of misty grey

soullessly enfold

banked fire wet wood

provides no warmth

dull red incipient mood

fit for naught but anguish

winter has arrived

bags tossed carelessly about

their contents strewn awry

dirty clothes the scent of stout

fan the flames begin the wash

nothing for it but get it done

this season will not win by gosh

ill beat it with my smile by gun

The “scent of stout” gives this just the right interior atmosphere.
I enjoy the rhymes.

I celebrate this poem's jauntiness!
